About

I am a New York City-based writer and am the content strategist for The Washington Post. Previously, I covered digital media and publishing for Digiday.

So a little about me: born in NYC, lived in Long Island for the first 10 years of my life and then moved to New Jersey. I graduated from William Paterson University with a piece of paper saying I was entirely competent in watching and making films.

I was in a rock and roll band, with goals nothing short of rock-star domination. But life and responsibility got in the way, so I went back to school to earn my graduate degree in Media Studies. From there, I went on to teach communications courses as William Paterson University and Montclair State University: Communication Theory, Public Speaking, Mass Communications and Film Theory.

After sequestering myself in the Ivory Tower for a few years, I moved to Brooklyn to live with my girlfriend (now wife) and started the next phase of my life: working in public relations. I worked for a couple of NYC PR firms where I got to apply all the theoretical knowledge I learned for clients like Ford Motor Company, Sharp Electronics, ST Mircoelectronics and many others. In 2008, I decided to start my own communications consultancy, Sternberg Strategic Communications. I closed my doors in late 2011 to focus on writing.

I was taught at an early age to do what you love. I’ve worked hard to fulfill that directive – from musician to academic to communications guy. All three have a common thread of language, of words, of telling stories. And now, I get to do this for a living. This is where I get to tell my stories.
